What Is Integration Studio?
Integration Studio is a middleware solution within Dayforce, allowing users to set up inbound and outbound integrations through a low-code interface.
In the past, configuring integrations required manual setup with intricate XML and XSLT mappings or depended on specialized data exchange teams.
With Integration Studio, this process is streamlined through a guided, step-by-step approach, making it easier to build imports and exports while handling diverse data mapping and transformation needs.
Key Capabilities of Integration Studio
Integration Studio offers a range of features to support diverse integration needs:
1. Inbound Integrations:
Import data into Dayforce from external systems that may not adhere to standard Dayforce import specifications. Integration Studio retrieves source data via:
Inbound GET API: Fetch data from an external system using a
GET
API request. Inbound POST API: Receive data from an external system through a
POST
API request.Inbound File: Retrieve data from CSV, XML, or JSON files uploaded to the Dayforce SFTP by an external system.
Once retrieved, Integration Studio applies necessary transformations and outputs the processed data as a Dayforce-supported XML import file.
2. Outbound Integrations:
Export data from Dayforce to external systems in various formats, including delimited text, fixed-width text, XML files, or JSON payloads sent to external APIs.
All outbound data is sourced from the Dayforce HCM Anywhere API and Event framework, enabling Integration Studio to function as a middleware solution compatible with diverse target system technologies.
3. Pre-Built & Custom Integration Options
Users can accelerate the integration setup with ready-made connectors for benefits providers, payroll vendors, and other third-party services.
4. Custom Integrations:
For unique requirements, build integrations from scratch using the "Build My Own" connector templates, offering flexibility to tailor integrations to specific business needs.
Integration Studio Best Practices
A thorough comprehension of your data's structure and relationships is crucial for effective mapping and transformation.
Apply filters to objects and array parents to manage data flow and prevent unnecessary data processing.
When working with APIs, ensure you understand their specifications and capabilities to optimize data retrieval and transmission.
Before deploying integrations into a production environment, conduct comprehensive testing to identify and resolve potential issues.
Maintain detailed documentation of your integration setups for future reference and troubleshooting.
