Red Pill Labs - Day 1: A Founder’s Journey

Freedom is a feeling that can’t be easily described in words

Now what?  That’s what I asked myself this morning as I got out of bed and jumped in the shower.  My calendar is wide open so no stress this morning about meeting prep or wondering why I start most mornings with 2 or 3 set calls of questionable value stacked next to each other.

But really now what?  Made some coffee and fired up the laptop.  Being busy is great but being busy for the right reasons is truly special.  Why do I feel so alive?  I have this extra bounce in my step and I can’t remember the last time I was this excited on a rainy mid November morning.

But wait.  I have no job, no source of income, so excitement is one thing.  Time to get cracking.  Time to take an inventory of my skills….that didn’t take long.  Might be better to start letting the world know that I’ve started a new venture.  Well I did let the LinkedIn world know that the new venture launches on November 11th.    That was smart, not really.  The one thing I can say for sure is that I didn't expect that the series of posts would be so well received.  I’ve been bombarded with emails, text messages, and phone calls asking me what my new venture will be.  Is it okay to say that I’m still figuring it out?  Or that I’ve given myself until November 11th to figure this out?   I hope so, cause that’s what I’ve been telling folks.

How do you write content for a new venture when you don’t truly know what it will be? Businesses are meant to evolve but what do you say about yourself and your company on day 1.  “Focus on your values Neal” that was my mantra for the last few weeks and honestly for the last 10 years of my life.

Anyway the site is up and this is the inaugural blog post.  Am I crazy for doing this?  Only time will tell.  If you’re reading this and been through something like this before where you quit a perfectly good job to chase your dreams then I’d love to hear from you.  Or if you have any advice, words of wisdom, or want to join me on this journey just send me a note.

And I leave you with a quote from Helen Keller - “Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.”

Cheers,

Neal
